Esad Cosan earned his doctorate in 1965 and became a professor in 1982. A prolific scholar, he authored numerous works in literature, linguistics, and Islamic sciences, contributing extensively to academic journals. A Ḥāfiẓ of the Quran, he was formally qualified in Islamic Law (Fiqḥ), Quranic Exegesis (Tafsīr), Prophetic Narrations (Ḥadīth), and Purification of the Soul (Taṣawwuf/Tazkiyatu’n-Nafs) through both academic and traditional scholarship. An authority in both contemporary and Islamic sciences, he distinguished himself especially in the fields of Tafsīr, Ḥadīth, and Taṣawwuf, through which he gained widespread recognition and prominence. Fluent in Arabic, English, German, and Persian, he earned deep respect across intellectual and spiritual circles.
