Bio in Brief

Mahmud Esad Cosan was born on 14 April 1938 (13 Safar 1357 AH) in Çanakkale, Türkiye. A descendant of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, his ancestors had migrated from Bukhara, Uzbekistan, to Çanakkale, carrying forward a distinguished legacy of faith and scholarship. He completed his primary, secondary, and higher education in Istanbul, and went on to serve as a member of the Faculty of Theology at Ankara University for 27 years. Esad Cosan returned to his eternal abode on 4 February 2001 (10 Dhu’l-Qa‘dah 1421 AH) in Dubbo, Australia, and was later laid to rest at Eyüp Sultan Cemetery in Istanbul.
